Becoming Prayer, Becoming Presence: A Workshop for Secular Franciscans

The Secular Franciscan Institute will hold a Secular Franciscan Conference on the campus of St. Bonaventure University this summer. The title of the program is “Becoming Prayer, Becoming Presence: A Workshop for Secular Franciscans.” The facilitator will be Br. Richard Hendricks, O.F.M., Cap., who is the guardian of the Ards Friary and Retreat Centre in Donegal, Ireland. Br. Richard has taught the practice of meditation in the contemplative tradition to many people. The seminar will take place on July 13-15, 2018.

Lenten Day of Reflection

St. Bonaventure Fraternity in Lansing is inviting all interested to attend a Lenten day of reflection to be held on Saturday March 3, 9:30 to 3:00. It will be held at St. Therese Church, 102 W Randolph St, Lansing, MI 48906

For lunch, please bring something to share.

Reflections will be led by David Seitz, OFS

Reflection 1: Meditation on the Passion of Christ and Old testament foreshadowing. Followed by time for personal meditation and group share

Reflection 2: I glory only in the cross of Christ, a reflection on St. Paul’s glory in the cross and how can we apply to our lives. Followed by time for personal meditation and group share.

The topic this year is “Francis the Troubadour: How Can I Keep from Singing.” Presenters will be Cricket and Jerry Aull and Bro. Bob Herrick, OFM Cap. This seminar will be about Francis the troubadour of God, music and joy.

Annual Ministers Meeting 2017

Our Annual Ministers Meeting was held August 4-6 at St. Francis Retreat and Conference Center near Lansing, Michigan. During the meeting Mary Stronach OFS, Bob Stronach OFS, and Fr. Christopher Panagoplos TOR provided us with our Fraternal and Pastoral Visitations. Thanks to Bob, we have great photos to share with you here and in the upcoming newsletter.

Secular Franciscan Midweek Retreat

St. Bonaventure Fraternity in Detroit is hosting a Secular Franciscan Midweek Retreat, for both men and women, on October 2-4, 2017. The retreat theme is “Come and Rest in Me.” It will be held at the Capuchin Retreat Center, 62460 Mt. Vernon, Washington, MI 48094. To make a reservation for the retreat, call 284-651-4826.
